Clacton-on-Sea Co-Operative Band

The Clacton-on-Sea Co-Operative Band is a traditional Brass Band. Originally formed in 1948 the Band is a well established organisation and over the years has earned the reputation of being a fine concert and contesting Band.

Many prizes have been won in competitions including in 1977, the title of 2nd Section Champion Band of Great Britain. Until 2003 the Band was a firmly established Championship Band - twenty odd years at this level was a great achievement. After two successful years in the First Section 2004-2005 the Band is once again in the Championship Section nationally and maintaining a high standard of playing. In the 70s and 80s the Band were broadcast on numerous occasions by the BBC in many popular broadcasts such as Listen to the Band, Friday Night is Music Night, Bandstand and Among Your Souvenirs and also appeared on BBC TV's Best of Brass series. The Band have travelled extensively in Europe including trips to France, Belgium, Germany and Hungary and more frequently to Winschoten, Holland to perform with the Nieuw Leven Band.

This summer concert series includes some special guest collaborations.

The Princes Theatre is the largest multi-purpose entertainment venue in North Essex. Run by the local council, it hosts a varied programme of family entertainment including concerts, plays, comedy and community events. They include regular performances by the Princes Theatre Youth Company, which is based here. The Theatre's home is the impressive Clacton Town Hall, where visitors can find out what else Clacton-on-Sea has to offer at the Tourist Information Centre.
