The Comedy Club Chelmsford
Compere - LEE CANTERBURY
Lee started his stand-up career in 1997, when he recieved rave reviews in The Evening Standard after his very first gig. He went on to be runner up in The Hackney Empire New Act of the year in 1998 and was a finalist in The Daily Telegraph open mic competition at Edinburgh in the same year. Sharing the bill with Daniel Kitson in their show The Monkey Touchers, Lee returned with critical acclaim to Edinburgh in 1999.
After a couple more years on the comedy circiut, Lee took a six year break to travel around the globe. But has now returned to his stand up and is ready to take up from where he left off.
Opening Act - STEVE DAY
Steve Day is a truly unique comedian - warm, witty and engaging whilst dealing with the dilemmas of being a deaf man in a hearing world. His stories of multiple children, wearing a suit and the problems caused by not knowing how words are pronounced will have audiences in raptures, and his uplifting tales of overcoming the obstacles in his path will leave crowds feeling inspired.
Closing Act - JEFF INNOCENT
East Ender Jeff Innocent is that dangerous breed; a big man with a brain. This unique contrast is the product of a colourful life growing up in London's East End, which has seen him combine working as a bouncer while also boasting an academic background. Such experiences form the cornerstone of his act and his talent has seen him land numerous roles on film and TV, including appearing alongside fellow hard-man turned thespian Vinny Jones in Mean Machine , Time Gentlemen Please and It Was An Accident as well as working with the likes of Later With Jools Holland and Phil Jupitus. With an act that's part history lesson part sociology lecture but all funny, he has been described as "like Alan Bennett writing an episode of Minder".
