Headline Act - Gordon Southern

With 16 years of comedy experience on his belt Gordon Southern is one of the most sought after headline acts on the UK and international circuit. His upbeat and energetic delivery combined with his fantastically funny observational comedy and quick witted improvisation has secured his place as an audience favourite.

An award winning writer with critical acclaim for numerous projects that he has worked on, Southern has written for some of the most memorable comedy shows of the last decade.

Compere - Al Venkman

Al Venkman is the resident host of all of the events at the Southend Student Union Bar. His mix of comedy and personal experiences in teaching, acting and performing, plus a love for back to the future, gives one a great insight into the funny world we live in.

Pete Dobbing

He is experianced at cabaret and street theatre, his signature trick is climbing and balancing on an unsupported 10ft ladder. His handcuff escape is as amusing as it is baffling, and he's mastered the ultimate retro challenge; a Rubik's cube solved in 90 seconds.

Television appearances include Channel 4's "Buskers Symphony", part of the "3 Minute Wonder" series and "28 Acts in 28 Minutes" on BBC Three, where he performed a suspended straitjacket escape.

Donna Scott

A stalwart of the British science fiction scene, Donna Scott is an administrator for the British Science Fiction Association Awards as well as an in-demand editor at genre imprints.

Donna has performed stand-up and poetry all over the UK, playing to crowds big and small, from pubs and arthouses to festival crowds. An MC and comic with a difference, Donna has been called upon to bring her warm, friendly musings and poetry to all sorts of events.

The Laughing Pod Comedy Club in Southend is located inside South East Essex College in The Student Union.

It is a few minutes away from Southend Victoria Station and on the footsteps of Southend Central Station.
