There can be little doubt that Elvis Presley (The King) is the greatest performer of popular music there has ever been.

Throughout his career, he set records for concert attendance, television ratings and recordings sales. He is one of the best-selling and most influential artists in the history of popular music, with hits such as "Hound Dog", "Jailhouse Rock", "Suspicious Minds", "In the Ghetto", and others too numerous to mention. To date, he has been inducted into four music halls of fame.

There was only one Elvis Presley, so someone performing a tribute to Elvis needs to be very good indeed to earn an audience’s approval – so good in fact, that you "Just Can’t Help Believing" it’s the real thing!

Rob Kingsley is the 2008-9 Elvis European Champion.

First opened in 1989, the Towngate Theatre is owned by Basildon District Council and is run by the Council's Cultural Services section. After a period of partial closure the Towngate re-opened fully in summer 2006 as an important feature of Basildon Council's modern cultural strategy.

Although the Towngate Theatre was built as recently as the late 1980s, its main auditorium follows the traditional horse-shoe design seen in many theatres built during the Georgian period. However, it is possible to quickly remove and store the entire 232 stalls seats under the main stage, creating a massive 378 square metre flat floor area suitable for all sorts of occasions. more
