Cimarron
Live and direct from Columbia
Cimarron are a seven-piece that hail from the vast Orinoco plains which stretch from Colombia into Venezuela. They bring to the theatre their own traditional rhythm and dance, known as joropo, which is played on harp, bandola and cuatro all accompanied by bass, cajon & maracas which Cimarrón fire up flawless virtuosity with a heart-stopping sense of drama.
Led by harpist Carlos Rojas, they have been experimenting with the music of their homeland for the past two decades, on the search for new musical horizons whilst staying true to their roots all of which led them to a recent critically acclaimed collaboration with celebrated Welsh harpist Catrin Finch.
Here to promote their debut release’ ORINOCO’ as part of a UK tour, Cimarron will leave you breathless, inspired and wondering when on earth you can get to see them again. They are THAT good!
Lakeside Theatre, Colchester

The Lakeside Theatre is a newly refurbished theatre based on the campus of Essex University. It has recently undergone an overhaul of its programming due to a change in management and is now offering a variety of performances billed as 'Arts on 5' from theatre and world music, to comedy and dance on a regular basis.
The Lakeside Theatre presents fresh new work that frequently hovers on the very edges of classification. Its international and culturally diverse programme promotes theatre, dance, live art and music in increasingly unexpected ways. Its ambition is to explore and find work that will stir the emotions, be passionate, mischievous and entertaining.
