Joe Brown

Joe Brown makes a welcome return to Clacton as part of his 2009 Spring Tour performing many of the songs which have made him one of Britain’s best loved and acclaimed musicians.

Joe Brown has been described as the pioneer of British guitarists and undisputed Daddy of UK rock 'n' roll, he's the man who's inspired nearly everyone from George Harrison to Jeff Beck to Mark Knopfler. He started his musical career playing guitar with the likes of Johnny Cash, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran and appearing with Bill Haley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and Chuck Berry, whilst occasionally opening for The Beatles at The Cavern Club in Liverpool.

Forming his own group in 1960, Joe Brown and The Bruvvers he went on to have numerous top ten singles, the best known of which was ‘Picture of You’ which reached number one in the charts for months on end. Other hits for the Bruvvers include 'It Only Took A Minute', 'That’s What Love Will Do' and 'What A Crazy World'.

Unlike many other stars from the sixties who have come back to performing or reformed their bands, Joe has never stopped working, and performs nearly 200 shows a year including Glastonbury, keeping his music current throughout.

Expect to be taken on a musical journey from timeless classics, country-based numbers to rock ‘n’ roll numbers. Tickets are sure to be in high demand so get in and secure them quick!

THE WEST CLIFF THEATRE & ARTS CENTRE is owned and administered by The West Cliff (Tendring) Trust, a registered charity, for the benefit of the community, and is supported by Tendring District Council.

Regular ART EXHIBITIONS are staged in the Theatre's Foyer. There is a LICENSED BAR serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, hot and cold bar snacks, teas and coffees.

The 590 seat theatre stages a broad variety of professional shows, in addition to many amateur and charitable productions. It is also home to the West Cliff Stage Foundation, a popular and highly successful, self funding, youth group. The West Cliff Theatre is proud of its close association with the local schools and regularly provides training, and rehearsal space, as well as staging their productions. The auditorium is also available, and regularly used, for professional show rehearsals.
